June 4, 2010:
At the recent Canadian Society of Pharmacology & Therapeutics Annual Meeting (June2-4) in Toronto, Marianne DeGorter
(Supervisor: Dr. Richard Kim) received the Best Trainee Oral Presentation Award and Michael Knauer
(Supervisor: Dr. Rommel Tirona) received the Best Trainee Poster Presentation Award. Congratulations to both!

May 25, 2010:
Dr. Richard B. Kim, has been awarded a Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) Research Chair (Level 1) in Experimental Therapeutics. He will receive $200,000/yr for 5 years with an
opportunity to renew for an additional 3 years. CCO Chairs are awarded based on the excellence of the candidate and strategic
alignment with one of the four CCO research theme areas. This award will facilitate his research in the areas of personalized
anticancer therapy and experimental therapeutics.

May 20, 2010:
Dr. Bandar Aljudaibi (PGY5), won the Best Poster Award (Supervisor: Dr. Richard Kim) at the Department of Medicine Research Day.
Title of his poster is "Thiopurine methyltranferase genotypes and adverse response among patients with inflammatory bowel disease
treated with azathioprine". Congrations Bandar!

Dr. Richard Ho, Assistant Professor Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University will be
speaking at our Grand Rounds (Auditorium C at University Hospital, 4:00 PM). His talk will focus on the
emerging role of drug transporters to drug toxicity and cancer chemotherapy.
