Rommel Tirona, PhD
Dr. Tirona obtained his B.Sc. in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto in 1991. After a pharmacy residency at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, he was a pharmacist at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto.
In 2000, he obtained a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Toronto and subsequently completed a research fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN in 2002. From 2002-2004, he was a research scientist at Amgen Inc., Thousand Oaks, CA.
In 2004, he returned to the Vanderbilt University as a Research Assistant Professor. Currently, Dr. Tirona is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology & Pharmacology and Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Department of Medicine at UWO. His research focuses on drug transport, metabolism and pharmacokinetics as determinants of drug response and toxicity.
